New South Radio, Inc. Outreach Initiatives:

 

Internship:

 

Jalen Portis, a student at Mississippi College, served as an intern at New South Radio, Inc. from January    through April 2017.  Victor Barnett (Production Director) was Jalen’s direct supervisor.  During his internship, Jalen spent numerous hours learning spot production and scheduling, as well as on-air production.  One area that Jalen excelled in was the production of commercials from start to finish.  He wrote scripts, submitted scripts to clients for approval and produced the final commercial for airing on the radio.  Jalen’s strong work ethic was refreshing and he often spent his own time volunteering his assistance at radio events.

 

Scholarship:

 

Victor Barnett (Production Director), John Anthony (Mix98.7 Program Director and Nancy Smith (Local Sales Manager) conducted interviews for the New South Radio, Inc. Mississippi College Scholarship.  This year’s recipient was Kathryn Tate.  Ms. Tate was awarded a $500.00 scholarship.  Ms. Tate is majoring in Mass Media with a minor in Theatre.  She maintains a 3.85 GPA.  She has also distinguished herself as the President of the National Theater Honor Society.
